Step 1
The work to be done and the expected result is discussed with the customer. This may be at the company’s premises or the customer’s residence etc. A quotation is given in writing.

Step 2
If necessary, items are stripped of paint or other previous finishes using the appropriate processes. Then, all repair work including dent removal is completed.

Step 3
Items (except jewellery etc.) are polished to a mirror finish by machine. Items requiring internal plating are bead
blasted or cleaned by hand.

Step 4
Items are wired onto hooks or on specialized racks. Care is taken to ensure that the wire is placed so that there is no visible mark on the plated product.

Step 5
Items are put into the first cleaner tank for at least 10 minutes to remove excess polish from the polishing process.

Step 6
Items are removed from the first cleaner tank, scrubbed by hand, then rinsed in second and third cleaner tanks.

Step 7
Items are brushed by a purpose built machine to remove any polish or dirt left in embossed areas that cannot be removed
by hand.

Step 8
Items are rinsed in the dry acid tank for minimum time to remove any oxidization formed on the surface from the cleaner tanks.

Step 9
Items are copper plated to ensure adhesion between the
base metal and nickel plating and to provide a further barrier
against corrosion.

Step 10
Items are rinsed in the copper rinse tanks to remove residue copper plating solution prior to nickel plating.

Step 11
Items are placed into the nickel tank. The duration and level
of current is determined according to the particular job and surface area.

Step 12
Items are rinsed in the nickel rinse tanks to remove any metal plating solution.

Step 13
Items are placed in the silver strike tank. This places a very
thin silver coating at a very fast rate prior to the heavy deposit, in step 14

Step 14
Items are placed in the silver tank. Current and duration is set to suit the particular work.

Step 15
Items are rinsed in the silver rinse tanks to remove any
silver plating solution.

Step 16
Items are dried by cleaning cloths, compressed air, or by placing in
the drying cabinet.

Step 17
Items are repolished on the polishing machine.

Step 18
Items are rewashed in the first cleaner tank to remove any polish or fingerprints.

Step 19
Items are dried and polished by hand with a soft cloth to a final lustre.

Step 20
Anti-tarnish finish (if required) is applied and baked.

Step 21
Goods are packed in acid-free tissue paper prior to customer pick-up or delivery.
