Step 1
The work to be done and the expected result is discussed with the customer. This may be at the company’s premises or the customer’s residence etc. A quotation is given in writing. |
 |
Step 2

 |
Step 3
Items (except jewellery etc.) are polished to a mirror finish by machine. Items requiring internal plating are bead
blasted or cleaned by hand. |
 |
Step 4
Items are wired onto hooks or on specialized racks. Care is taken to ensure that the wire is placed so that there is no visible mark on the plated product. |
 |
Step 5
Items are put into the first cleaner tank for at least 10 minutes to remove excess polish from the polishing process. |
 |
Step 6
Items are removed from the first cleaner tank, scrubbed by hand, then rinsed in second and third cleaner tanks. |
 |
Step 7
Items are brushed by a purpose built machine to remove any polish or dirt left in embossed areas that cannot be removed
by hand. |
 |
Step 8
Items are rinsed in the dry acid tank for minimum time to remove any oxidization formed on the surface from the cleaner tanks. |
 |
Step 9
Items are copper plated to ensure adhesion between the
base metal and nickel plating and to provide a further barrier
against corrosion. |
 |
Step 10
Items are rinsed in the copper rinse tanks to remove residue copper plating solution prior to nickel plating. |
 |
Step 11
Items are placed into the nickel tank. The duration and level
of current is determined according to the particular job and surface area. |
 |
Step 12
Items are rinsed in the nickel rinse tanks to remove any metal plating solution. |
 |
Step 13
Items are placed in the silver strike tank. This places a very
thin silver coating at a very fast rate prior to the heavy deposit, in step 14 |
 |
Step 14
Items are placed in the silver tank. Current and duration is set to suit the particular work. |
 |
Step 15
Items are rinsed in the silver rinse tanks to remove any
silver plating solution. |
 |
Step 16
Items are dried by cleaning cloths, compressed air, or by placing in
the drying cabinet. |
 |
Step 17
Items are repolished on the polishing machine. |
 |
Step 18
